And, in between all the majors,

there was ALOT of laughing.

oh yeah... and headbands.

With all of this,

a vacation was in order.

And I can say with certainty,

as 30 yr. olds can,

it was my favorite vacation yet.

I know you do not EVER use the Internet, so I will save my sentiments for the your Fathers day card, but my post today is an excerpt from my memory journal and one of my favorite memories with you. I love you Dad!

I have curly hair.

As does my father.

When I was very young, maybe 3 or 4, he took me to the grocery store. My dad said I could pick out a toy, but I had to eat all my vegetables.

Agreed.

I picked out the perfect collection of dress up make up and hair curlers. I was absolutely thrilled with the purchase and couldn't wait to curl my hair. After what seemed like an eternity of trying to get the curlers to stay in my hair...I gave up.

Later that very same day, I was mixing my Neapolitan ice cream and watching the three colors swirl together. I noticed how sticky my hands were getting. I decided this was the perfect solution for getting the curlers to stay in my hair! Just add ice cream! Genius, right? And, so I dipped my hand in the ice cream, ran it through my hair and quickly added the curlers.

I asked my dad if he too would like curly hair? He replied, "sure." And, so I dipped my hand in the ice cream, ran it through his hair and quickly added the curlers.

Like I said, I have curly hair.

As does my father.

I'm pretty sure, this is how we got it.

the question that everyone has been asking me lately...

and the answer?

Well... we moved from our downtown loft to our "summer home" in the country. Its far away from everything and it takes me a very long time to get to work, but that's ok because there is a drive thru starbucks in route and we just got a lovely new passat, making the drive quite enjoyable!

We also went to New Orleans, LA and let me just say that seeing the birth city of your husband is romantic in a way that I cannot even explain. Louisiana is so far from where this golden girl was born and it melts my western heart that we were born so far apart but ended up meeting each other and falling in love, love, love.

And, most importantly we celebrated our ONE year anniversary and have been basking in our ONE year anniversary love, love, love.

3 years ago today, I received the funniest phone call of my life.

My sister, had given birth to yet another beautiful girl...

aaannnd she weighed 10 lbs.

I am still laughing.

Marley, you and me have alot in common...

we are both the babies of the fam, we are both obsessed with your mom, and we are both pretty sure that the world revolves around us.

But, our biggest differences are you have a booty that won't quit

and the best calves I have ever seen.

and the way you sat naked and stared at everyone on my wedding day.

27 years ago, she was born. 20 years ago, we became best friends at the ripe old age of 7. I had just moved from Salt Lake City, UT to Henderson,NV. On my 1st day of school, Miss Howard, wisely placed my desk side by side Danielle's desk.We didn't speak all day, but that night we saw each other out to dinner with our families and we shyly waved at one another.

And, wah-la! Best friends!

She is the most determined, smart, loyal and loving person that I have ever met. I cannot recall life without her. Therefore,we share way too many memories to even list.And, even though we have become grown ups and we are separated by too many miles, our hearts, just like our 1st grade desks,live side by side.

Seriously? Out of 365 glorious days I only posted 41 days/events/thoughts? Well, this got me thinking...how much of my life do I actually have a record of? Very little. I have kept a journal since age 12 and only I have a handful of entries. But lucky for me,my memory is long and being that it is a new year, I figured now is the

time to start. By the end of 2009, I want to have a complete journal/book of all my memories. And, let me just say...its been a little addicting. I can barely sleep. Biggest challenge- keeping up with the both my blog and memory journal. So from time to time I will share an excerpt.

And, here is my first page...

"My earliest memory is me crying with my face pressed against the Pecks' front room window calling out to Farah. She had just dropped me off at the sitters,on her way to school with Jason in tow. Maxine Peck was nice enough,it wasn't that I didn't like being there,it was just that I preferred to be home. I can still see them. Bundled up in their snow clothes, fading further and further down the street, until I no longer could tell them apart from the snow that was gently falling. I stood in the window,while Maxine slept on the couch. My tears and my drool mixed and dripped down the glass and my heart calling out to my sister. And, then at the bottom of the street, I saw a familiar bundle. It moved closer and closer and through my tears, I saw her. It was my sister. Farah had dropped Jason off at school and returned to take me home. And, we walked up the hill to Cedar Ridge,arm in arm."

is now as old as me again...phew! 27 was getting lonely! I barely remember life without her. She is the bestest friend a girl could ask for. She is the kind of best friend that you could lay out with for hours and she will never complain of heat/hunger/boredom. Just simply worship the sun, side by side, sharing an ipod and the same thought...man, could Brand New be more amazing? She is the kind of best friend that you could call and say..."um, I need to drive to St. Louis right now". And, her response is, "I am in class right now, but I can be packed and ready in an hour." She is also down for much shorter drives on the best street ever, Horizon Ridge, music up, windows down. he did it 9 years ago today. I loved him instantly and do not think I put him down for anything other than his mother to nurse him. Then the day came that he could walk and no longer wanted to be held ALL day...just half the day. But that brought other joys like him running to the door to greet me with his big old grin and his cute little face.

When I moved away to St. Louis, my biggest fear was I would lose my place as beloved Aunt, but then I received this in the mail, stamped+addressed with help from his big sister, who was about 7 at the time...

...and all my fears were calmed. Many notes have since followed and last summer Brody saved $200 just to send himself back home to my

heart.

{Merry married Christmas}

When I dreamed of our first married Christmas, it was filled with baking, handmade treasures to deck our halls, and a large Christmas tree in the front window of our love nest.

It was not filled with me scraping my husbands' car on the cement pillar in the garage upon my return from scouring the city for the particular christmas lights that I wanted, only to shatter every single strand of lights by dropping them, and breaking our shutters in the process of hanging the lights.

Our first married Christmas did include snow, but did not include Gareth sliding on the ice and taking out a meter and crashing my car into a side of a building.

But our first married Christmas did indeed include him and lucky for me, he is safe. And, no matter what kind of unplanned craziness that life can throw at you, I'm so very happy that it is me + him and...

Gone are the days of him pronouncing limousine as "zimozine" and running around all summer dressed in nothing but his underwear and cowboy hat, he is officially grown up! Yesterday, Gareth and his band Ava, Wait played the largest music festival in St. Louis called Pointfest for the 2nd time. Last year,

he played the local stage and we were just barely engaged... This year he played the main stage and we are married!

When I was little girl, she had quite the way of talking me into things. Typically she would bribe me with ice cream and if that didn't work she would throw in a new outfit.

When I was 4, she convinced me that it would be a great idea to pierce my ears. That required both an ice cream and new duds.

When I was kindergarten, I was supposed to sing a solo part of "America the Beautiful". At the last minute, I changed my 6 yr old mind&refused to do it, but Shelley told me she knew I could sing beautifully plus she would buy me a 5 gallon tub of ice cream that I would'nt have to share. Deal.

When I was a teenager she convinced me to chop all my hair off...twice.

note: I will not be posting any pictures with this haircut&and if you have any or know of anyone who has them, please destroy.

When I was away at Snow College and completely miserable, she would come and rescue me. We would spend the weekend together and she would take me shopping and for ice cream just to cheer me up.

She is witty, hilarious, and quite lovely. I love her.Happy birthday, sweet sister. I wish I was there, I would take you shopping and for ice cream!
